    Feist Rescue Information: The Feist is a small dog bred in the U.S. for hunting small game. The Feist is not a purebred and its characteristics vary widely from dog to dog. Feists are known for their ability to tree squirrels and other small animals. Feists are typically high spirited dogs; their appearance and temperament often leads them to be mistaken for Jack Russell Terriers.

    Feist Trivia: George Washington mentioned Feists in his diary. Feists may be the offspring of Native American dogs and the purebred dogs of English American colonists. Feists have been kept since the 1600s. There are about a dozen different kinds of Feists. Abraham Lincoln mentioned feists in a poem he wrote.
